In order to create your Site View you will have to first complete the steps in the Dataset Console, Layer Console, and depending on your needs the Report Console guides.
Create a new Site View
- Open the Site View Console.
- At the top right; select the New Site View icon (#2 in the pic above).
- Enter your unique site view name.
- Toggle on/off Aware as needed (whether you wish to make your Site View available in the Aware platform, or if you have added your own Datasets and wish to view them in Aware, this toggle needs to be turned "on".)
- Go to "3. Layer" below.
Edit a Site View
- Open the Site View Console.
- Search and locate the site view in the list (#1 in the pic above).
- Right-click the site view > Edit Site View OR click on the site view > select Edit Site View icon at the top right.
- Go to "3. Layer" below.
The setup page of the Site View Console is where the foundation of each site view is created. The information entered into this console is the forward-facing data in your finished Pivvot Site View, which users can access via the Pivvot Map Platform.
Numbers below match numbers on above image.
1. Setup
Setup is where you will create/edit the name of your Site View, choose the background map layer for your Site View, and choose whether your Site View will be accessible within the Aware platform, in addition to the Map platform.
2. Layer Group
Layer Group is where you can select any of your previously created and desired Layer Groups in the Layer Groups Console, "Available Layer Groups" and add them to your Site View. Simply select the desired Site View layers listed on the left side of the screen (#8 in the pic above) and move them to the "Site View Layer Group" on the right (#9 in the pic above) using the arrows in the middle.
If you do not see the layer group you are looking for in the available layer groups area, you can use the search box (#7 in the pic above) to find and add. If you did not previously create any Layer Groups, none will display here.
3. Layer
In the Site View Console, you will use the list of items located on the left side of your screen to add information to your site view Layers.
Map Display
Map Display is where you can select any of your previously created and desired Layers from the Layers Console, "Available Layers" and add them to your Site View. Simply select the desired Site View layers listed on the left side of the screen (#8 in the pic above) and move them to the "Site View Layers" on the right (#9 in the pic above) using the arrows in the middle.
If you do not see the layer you are looking for in the available layers area, you can use the search box (#7 in the pic above) to find and add. If you did not previously create any Layer, none will display here.
On by Default
Check the boxes of the layers that you want to display automatically when the Site View in the Map platform is opened. Users will be able to turn all other layers on/off from within the Site View.
Draw Order
This is how each layer will be drawn on the map. Typically, you want polygon layers on the bottom, line layers in the middle, and point layers on top. If you order layers such that a polygon layer is above a point layer, you will not be able to see the point layer.
Think of Draw Order like building a sandwich. Turkey and cheese are polygon layers. Mustard or Mayo are line layers (when using a squeeze bottle), and pickles are point layers. If you put the pickles or mustard below the turkey or cheese, you won't see them. If you place the pickles beneath the mustard, the mustard may cover up part or all of your pickles. So, you want to place polygons on the bottom, then lines, and points on top.
In the pic below, the two points sit atop the black outlined rectangle polygon which sits atop the imagery base layer.
Map Extent
Setting the Map Extent allows you to set a one of your layers as the map extent for the Site View to open to.
For example, if you have a layer of streets that cover an entire city and you set the map extent to that streets layer, then when users open their Site View, the map will display the whole city. However, if you have a layer which encompasses only one city block and you set that as your Map Extent, then upon opening the Site View the map will zoom in to that specific block data layer.
Users will be able to zoom in/out within the Site View, but by setting the Map Extent, you are setting up the Site View to default to the view you want users to see.
4. Search
Search is where you can select any of the Pivvot Datasets, or your previously created and desired Datasets in the Dataset Console, "Available Datasets" and allow them to be searchable within the Site View by moving them from the left side of the screen (#8 in the pic above) to the "Searchable Datasets" on the right (#9 in the pic above) using the arrows in the middle.
If you do not see the dataset you are looking for in the available datasets area, you can use the search box (#7 in the pic above) to find and add.
5. Reports
Reports is where you can select any of your previously created and desired Reports in the Reports Console, "Available Reports" and add them to your Site View. Simply select the desired Reports listed on the left side of the screen (#8 in the pic above) and move them to the "Site View Reports" on the right (#9 in the pic above) using the arrows in the middle.
If you do not see the report you are looking for in the available reports area, you can use the search box (#7 in the pic above) to find and add. If you did not previously create any Reports, none will display here.
6. Users
Users is where you can select any of your previously added Users in the User Console, "Available Users" and give them access to your Site View. Simply select the desired Users listed on the left side of the screen (#8 in the pic above) and move them to the "Site View Users" on the right (#9 in the pic above) using the arrows in the middle.
If you do not see the users you are looking for in the available users area, you can use the search box (#7 in the pic above) to find and add. If you did not previously add any Users, none will display here.
10. Save the Site View.
When creating new Site Views, or editing existing Site Views, please be sure to always "Save" (#10 in the pic above) when you are done.
