Create a new Route project and choose important details, such as the type of route, projection, elevation interval and reporting datasets in the project details page.
What is a Route Project?
Pivvot Route allows users to create comprehensive projects that includes objective path(s) focused within a designated Area of Interest (AOI). It allows for the execution and management of multiple routes (system generated, drawn or uploaded) for analysis. Reporting and deliverables are generated based on the routes and data within the AOI, utilizing Pivvot data for comprehensive insights.
Route Project Set-Up
In the project details page, you will set up the important details behind your Route project. You can access this project details page and make changes at anytime, however, changes made after route, data or report completion might require re-generation. To create a new project, select the Create new project icon at the top of the page:
1. After you create a unique name, you will select the type, either Routing or Electric Transmission Routing* (if applicable for your subscription tier).
*Electric Transmission Routing (ETR) includes cost estimation, which estimates the project costs based on the MISO standard practices.
2. Next, you will choose which projection you would like your project to be in. You have the choice between State Plane and UTM projections.
Projection is used for calculating the length of the route(s), route stationing, mile posts, and other aspects of the generated reports, including acreage. All calculations are in feet.
Note: The chosen Projection configuration will not have a significant impact on the outcome of the routing or reporting process. It is mostly a selection based on user preference.
Tip from Pivvot: If your Routing project crosses state boundaries, we recommend using UTM. If your project is contained in one state, choose State Plane.
3. Then, you will set the elevation interval in which elevation values are defined in the reports.
Elevation data is derived from 10-meter DEMs. An elevation interval that is set too low may generate repeating values in the reports. An interval of at least 30 feet is recommended.
4. Last, you will assign the reporting datasets to your project. You can choose any of the available reporting data sets to include in your reporting and data package downloads by selecting them and moving them to the Selected Reported Datasets column, using the arrows. Select all Pivvot data by selecting "Pivvot" and moving all datasets to the right. Datasets with the Route icon ( ) are required due to their inclusion in the PLAE and will be included in every project.
Once you click "save," your project will be created and will appear in your project list.
