The Routes panel is used to assemble the routes that will be created for a project. Routes can be System-Generated, Digitized, or Uploaded. This is where you can also designate your PLAE, configure colocation and make edits to routes.
Routes Panel
The Routes Panel serves as a hub for creating the routes needed for your project. Here, you have the ability to configure and generate routes, digitize them, and even upload existing routes. Once created, you can edit, simplify, and further configure and manage your routes.
You will obtain reports and download data deliverables from these routes.
Generate a Route
Pivvot creates generated routes using your PLAE configuration, objective paths, and the colocation preferences you set on the Route panel. The number of routes you can generate at one time is determined by your subscription tier. For more information about your subscription, please contact us at support@pivvot.com.
System Generated Route
To generate a route, click the "generated" icon to open the route configuration screen.
Set up your new system-generated route by giving it a name, selecting the objective path you want the route to follow and selecting the PLAE you would like this route to use. The PLAE and objective path will drive the route generation process. You can edit these later and re-generate your route.
Turn on Calculate Suitability corridor (available depending on subscription tier) to have Pivvot Route create this feature for the route.
Colocation
To enable colocation for your system generated route, click on the cog where on the Route Configuration screen:
This will open the Colocation Configuration screen. Toggle 'Enable routing colocations' to enable colocation. The colocation datasets that exist in the project AOI appear below.
Toggle 'Include' to turn on and off the preferred colocations you would like the route to utilize. Toggle 'Sub-types' to on to display/configure available colocation subtypes in more detail. Set the weight and buffer of each colocation for Route to consider during the routing process.
Generate Routes
If your route is ready to generate, toggle 'Turn on Queue for generation' and click create. To create/configure additional routes before generating simple click 'Create.'
Once all of your routes have been configured, click the generate routes icon.
To select which route(s) you wish to generate, move them from the Available Routes to the Selected Routes column and click 'Generate.'
Route status
While your route is generating, you can track the status by noting the status symbol next to the name of your route.

Draw (Digitize) a Route
For a digitized route, select the line tool to draw a route onto the map inside of the project AOI. This option may be useful if you want to use the Pivvot layers to hand draw a route based on your own experience.
Once you draw your line, you will have the option to edit, simplify, or configure the co-location of the route.
Upload a Route
An uploaded route is one that has been created outside of the application, then added to the project. The uploaded route should be located within the project's AOI.
Select the upload icon to upload a KMZ/KML or zipped shapefile.
If you want a project that only contains an uploaded route, you must first upload the route as an object path to create the AOI.
Edit a Route
You can edit your uploaded or digitized (drawn) routes by clicking the pencil to edit the route. Once clicked, the vertices will appear and you can then move them as needed.
The mile posts for control point (vertices) will appear as a list in the panel below. Navigate to each control point using the Control Point column.
Note: You can also edit system generated routes by making a copy of the route, which converts it into a digitized route. Once clicked, the vertices will appear and you can then move them as needed.
Simplify Route
Simplifying a route allows you to remove extraneous points of inflection while attempting to preserve the shape of the route. Use the simplify tool for each route to smooth out the route's path. Click the simplify tool to turn on simplification.
Note: As with editing, you can also simplify a system generated route by making a copy of the route, which converts it into a digitized route.
Use the slider to choose the level of simplification needed for the route. The farther the slider is moved toward "Max Simplification" the more points of inflection will be removed.
Manage Routes
You can change the buffer for each route by clicking on the buffer and updating it. This will change the reporting buffer for each route.
You can also change the color of the route on the map by clicking on the color block and selecting or typing in a new hex code.
You can also duplicate a route by clicking the copy route icon.
And you can delete a route that is no longer part of your project.
