Start and Set Up a New Siting Project

Create a new project in Siting to begin prospecting for sites. You can organize your projects by type or ISO and select the data sets to include in your download deliverables.

Start a New Siting Project

  1. Select the Create a new project icon located near the top right of the siting console.

2.     Enter a unique project name.

3.     You have the option to organize your projects by Type (Solar, Wind, Battery Energy Storage System, Hybrid, or Other) and by ISO. Choose the Type of project from the Type dropdown. The project type will be displayed on the Siting dashboard as color coded map icons. For more on organizing your projects, please see the article:  Organize Projects

Choosing a Type is optional. You can add a project type anytime in project settings.

4. You have the the option to include a site buffer at the project level. Adding a buffer will automatically include the buffered distance in your data downloads and reports for every site in the project.

5.    If  you are organizing your projects by ISO, select an ISO or multiple ISOs by clicking the check box for each ISO you would like to assign to the project. For more on organizing your projects, please see the article:  Organize Projects

Associating your project with an ISO is an optional step. You can add or remove a project ISO anytime in project settings.

6. Some datasets are required and will be included in every project by default. These datasets have the Siting icon next to them and are automatically assigned to the Selected Reporting Datasets column. Remaining (non-required) datasets can still be selected/assigned to your project and included in your data download and CSV web reports. The number of datasets selected can impact the time it takes to process downloads and reports.

Assign a dataset (or multiple datasets) by clicking on the name(s) in the Available Reporting Datasets column and use the arrows located between the two columns (or drag/drop) to move the dataset(s) to the Selected Reporting Datasets column.

You can change which datasets are included in your project anytime by opening the project settings screen. Please note that if you change a dataset after you run a download or report, you will have to re-run the download or report to include the changes.

5.   Select Save

Your new project is now the active project and is also available in the project drop down located to the left of plus icon.
